OptiMed Specialty Pharmacy employees wore red today to acknowledge National “Wear Red” Day, part of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Campaign. The campaign helps raise awareness that cardiovascular disease is women’s No. 1 health threat and empowers them to improve their heart health.
Cardiac events and stroke cause one out of three female fatalities in the U.S. each year. However, 80% of cardiac events could be prevented with lifestyle choices and education. Women are encouraged to make healthy changes such as losing weight, eating a healthier diet, and increasing exercise. Having a cholesterol test and a general health checkup are also good ways to celebrate the day.
